Who we are

Founders who built the software. Now working only for SMEs.

Claromai isn't a graduate agency that discovered AI last year. We're led by people who have spent more than thirty years founding, scaling and selling software businesses — from a start-up launched in a garage in the dot-com years, through SaaS platforms delivered to some of the world's biggest brands. We've made a deliberate choice with all of that experience: to put it to work for the businesses the big consultancies overlook.

Our track record

Three decades of building things that had to actually work.

Not theory. Companies founded, products shipped, and software sold and delivered to blue-chip clients across the UK, Europe and beyond.

Our story

From a garage start-up to global SaaS — and back to what matters.

Our founder cut his teeth in the dot-com era, co-founding an IT company in a garage in 1992 and growing it into a business of around fifty people. It reached the Sunday Times Top 100 fastest-growing privately owned companies and won recognition as an Entrepreneur of the Year finalist. Those were the years when you couldn't hide behind a slide deck — either the product shipped and customers paid for it, or the company didn't survive. That's where the discipline behind Claromai was formed: build the smallest thing that proves value, put it in front of real users, and let results decide what happens next.

Next came SaaS, early — founding a company that delivered software-as-a-service help-desk and service-management products to blue-chip clients, and later selling that intellectual property on. Then a decade at the top of two international software consultancies, designing, selling and delivering solutions to some of the world's biggest brands across the UK, Europe and North America.

So we've sat on every side of the table: as founders raising and running companies, and as the partner delivering complex software into enterprise clients — the long procurement cycles, the committees, the multi-year rollouts. It taught us a great deal. It also taught us exactly where our energy is best spent.

1992 · The dot-com era

Built to ship or die

Co-founded an IT start-up in a garage, grew it to ~50 people and a Sunday Times Top 100 ranking. The market gave instant, unforgiving feedback — so value had to be real.

2006 onward · The SaaS years

Software as a service, early

Founded and led SaaS service-management businesses, then spent a decade selling and delivering software to global brands across the UK, Europe and North America.

Now · Claromai

Focused entirely on SMEs

Taking three decades of build, sell and deliver experience and pointing it at the businesses that move fastest when they get the right help.

Why we chose SMEs

Enterprise and SME aren't the same business at different sizes. They're different games.

We've delivered into both. The tools can look similar; almost everything around them is not. Understanding that difference is the whole reason Claromai exists.

Enterprise

Built for scale, slowed by process

  • Decisions pass through committees, procurement and legal before anything moves
  • Change is measured in quarters and budgets are set a year out
  • Success is often about risk management and internal consensus
  • The person who feels the problem rarely controls the solution
SME — where we work

Built for speed, powered by ownership

  • The person who feels the problem is usually the person who can say yes
  • A good decision on Monday can be live by the end of the month
  • Success is measured in hours saved, jobs won and cash in the bank
  • Every pound and every hour is real — so the work has to earn its place

What most consultancies miss

The SME sector works differently — in ways that are subtle, but decide everything.

These aren't small details. They're the reason enterprise playbooks quietly fail in smaller businesses — and the reason ours don't.

Speed is the advantage — so we protect it

An SME's edge over a giant competitor is how fast it can move. We build to keep that speed, not smother it in process the business can't afford to carry.

The owner is the strategy

There's no innovation department. The founder's judgement and the team's day-to-day reality are the plan. We work with that, not around it.

Resources are finite and personal

There's no slush fund to absorb a failed experiment. So we prove value on a small scale first, then expand only what's already working.

Trust is earned in weeks, not slideware

Owners have heard every pitch. What earns their confidence is something running in their business, doing real work, that they can see for themselves.

What this means for you

We turn things round faster — and we mean results, not activity.

Because we understand how SMEs actually work, we skip the parts that slow enterprise projects to a crawl. No six-month discovery. No strategy theatre. We find the highest-value opportunity, build it, and put it to work — usually within weeks, at a fixed price, with the results out in the open.

Direct results We measure success in hours reclaimed, leads answered and revenue protected — the numbers you feel.
Built with you, not at you You keep your tools and your team. We leave a playbook so you own what we build.
Only for SMEs We don't split our attention with enterprise clients. Owner-run businesses are all we do.
